And to wrap that up, here’s what we are probably all thinking at this point, stated so succinctly by Dan Reihl at Riehl World View:
Congratulations America – increasingly becoming a nation of spoiled, self-satisfied, culturally ignorant jerks. You are getting precisely the government you deserve.
Now all you have to do is figure out a way to survive it with your wealth, freedoms and well being intact. And it might not be as easy as you think. Oh, we’ll be here. But, yes, we will be changed, whether you like it, or not.

Next, a ray of sunshine: this article, by John Batchelor of The Daily Beast, explains “why not a single House Republican supported the president’s stimulus package.” Hopey-changey bye-bye! My favorite part is where minority leader Boehner throws some cold water on his colleagues (as described by Batchelor):
The day before the crucial vote in the House, Minority Leader John Boehner told his troops that the Republican Party is no longer a bureaucracy. “He took us by the throat and told us, ‘You’re no longer the majority, stop acting like it,’” a senior Republican told me about the run up to the vote. “‘If you’ve got an idea, get it on MSNBC. This is an entrepreneurial insurgency.’ He was kicking the ball around. He wants everyone involved. If there’s an amendment, he told us to offer it. If you have 48 seconds for YouTube, get it up there. Get busy and resist in every instance.”
Yeah!! Go dissent! Go responsibility! Go calling out wasteful hoodwinking!
For tons of information on why the proposed economic ’stimulus’ plan is doomed to fail, check out Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty website. It has daily articles on a range of issues. Many recent (past month or so) interviews with Dr. Paul are awesome in their clarity and reason. If you search ’stimulus’ you will get great articles on that alone. Semi-related is a terrific article by Bretigne Shaffer entitled “An Open Letter to My Pro-Obama Friends” detailing some predictions on where we will be in four years.
Here’s a fun quiz you can take to determine exactly where on the political spectrum you are. It’s at a site called The Political Compass, takes about 10 minutes to do, and will compare your stance to several famous world leaders.
Finally, here’s an interesting update on some of the continuing efforts to get to the conclusion of the Obama ‘natural born’/birth certificate issues. It’s a letter posted on Dr. Taliz Orly’s website from retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel physician Dr. David A. Earl-Graef to Senator John Warner (who sits on the Senate Committee on Armed Services). This thing is not going away!
The bad economy, the ’stimulus’ (or more appropriately ’sedative’) plan, the size and role of government, our Constitution–well, snap!–rainbows and unicorns have not shown up yet while the problems and questions still remain. Go figure
